Eagan is a city filled with trees. Caring for them involves preservation, management, and maintenance to ensure the health of our urban forest. Our success depends on residents, businesses, developers, and the Forestry staff, all helping grow and manage Eagan's trees. Our goal is to provide a better quality of life for present and future generations.

Shade Tree Management Programs

Eagan's urban forest is an important part of what makes this environment special. Protecting the health and vitality of our trees is a key part of the work done by the City's forestry staff. Eagan has established a Shade Tree Management Program to help control shade tree diseases, pests, and insect infestation in our parks, public and private spaces throughout the community.

Minnesota Tree Resources

The University of Minnesota, the Minnesota DNR, and other federal, state, and local agencies offer useful information regarding emerald ash borer (EAB) activity status and oak wilt risk status, and tree management information. Additional links and resources are provided to help you find relevant information on trees and landscapes.

Minnesota Trees and the Law

The City of Eagan does not have the legal authority to adjudicate tree disputes between private property owners.  We encourage amicable resolution of property disputes between neighbors. When this is not feasible, either party may choose to seek professional advice.  Check the links below for helpful advice and resources.
